They can be debilitating, making it difficult to enjoy life and carry out daily activities \u2013 though with the right treatment and support they can be managed, and people can live fulfilling lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">The first step is to seek help, to talk to a healthcare professional such as a GP or a counsellor.&nbsp; They\u2019ll be able to assess your symptoms, provide a diagnosis and recommend the most appropriate treatment \u2013 perhaps medication, talking therapies &#8211; or a combination of both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Antidepressant drugs can help to regulate the levels of certain chemicals in the brain, which are thought to play a role in these conditions. Simple things like eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise and enough sleep can improve your mood and overall well-being. It can also be helpful to set realistic goals for yourself and make time for activities you enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">Be aware of the triggers that can cause your depression and low mood to worsen &#8211; like stress, relationship problems or financial difficulties. By identifying and avoiding these triggers, you can help to reduce your symptoms and manage your condition more effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size\">It can be helpful to connect with others who have experience of depression and low mood.
